Surf Style

surf guitar

Surf Guitar as a style emerged in the 1960s

Early pioneers were Dick Dale, The Ventures and The Surfaris to name a few. The genre is characterised by shimmering reverb, driving rhythms and importantly melody. Whilst there are many classic tunes from yesteryear to learn the style is still thriving with modern surf revival acts found all over the globe.

Learn melodies - know your scales

Instrumental Surf guitar is all about playing melodies - a perfect way to learn all the scales you might want to know - Major, Minor, Pentatonic and at times Harmonic Minor. You're learning the scales as you play the songs.

Cover many genres

Under the banner of 'Surf Guitar' you'll encounter rock 'n' roll, blues, latin, spaghetti-western and cinematic textures. These styles are often encountered in Alternative, Garage, Indie and Americana musical forms.
